Volunteer Opportunities at ABVI
To support the individuals and families that ABVI serves, the organization provides free transportation services to medical appointments, as well as assistance with reading and shopping, for people who are blind. To carry out this mission, ABVI relies on the assistance of volunteers.
A variety of volunteer opportunities that fit everyone’s schedules are available at ABVI. Our volunteers make a real difference in the lives of individuals who are blind or visually impaired by providing rides to doctors’ appointments, assisting with social outings for people who are blind, helping with various special events, or a variety of other ways. ABVI’s volunteer program can utilize the time and talents of volunteers in a variety of unique and rewarding ways, including:
- Drivers to transport individuals who are blind to medical appointments.
- Shoppers to help people who are blind or visually impaired do the things they cannot do independently, such as shopping for groceries.
- Readers to help individuals read their mail, pay bills, keep up on current events, etc.
- Special Events to help provide sighted guide and volunteer support to ABVI at events such as quarterly social and recreational events for people who are blind, the annual Scouting for Food and Clothing program, or our Annual Celebration fundraising event.
